Rainy-season risk starts before the bag is opened
In tropical markets, cat litter can be exposed to moisture in warehouses, delivery vehicles, shop floors and humid homes. Plant-based granules are especially important to keep dry because they are designed to absorb liquid. If they absorb moisture from the air first, clumping and shelf life can suffer. Retailers should store cartons on pallets and away from walls; consumers should reject torn packs and move opened litter into a clean, airtight container.
Keep the tray out of the humidity zone
A convenient litter-box location is quiet, accessible and separated from food and water. During the rainy season, it should also be away from shower spray, floor drains, leaking windows and direct balcony exposure. Do not seal the box inside an unventilated cabinet. A covered box may hide odor from people while trapping humid air around the litter. If your cat accepts one, choose a design with adequate openings and clean the hood as often as the base.
Prevent wet fragments from accumulating
Scoop clumps before they break down under repeated paw traffic. Use a scoop whose slots match the granule size, then remove small damp pieces rather than shaking them back into the box. Wipe any urine that reaches the tray wall and let the surface dry before topping up. If the whole bed feels cool, sticky or unusually soft, a partial top-up will not restore it; replace the affected litter and wash the tray.
Test products under local humidity
A useful supplier test compares clump strength immediately, after one hour and after several hours of humid exposure. It also checks dust after transport and odor after repeated use. Clean Step offers plant tofu, tofu-cassava mixed and lightweight sodium crush formats, with OEM/ODM support for material, formula, size and packaging. Importers can request samples and define a rainy-season validation protocol before finalizing a range.
