There is no single calendar rule
A complete litter change depends on the number of cats, tray size, litter material, clump quality and how often waste is removed. Desert heat outside does not always describe the indoor environment; many Gulf homes remain cool but enclosed. Use the condition of the litter and tray as the decision point rather than promising that one product will last a fixed number of days.
Use daily checks
Scoop urine clumps and stool at least once daily, preferably twice in multi-cat or enclosed homes. Top up to the label-recommended depth and inspect the bottom for damp paste or stuck fragments. A sour or persistent odor immediately after scooping, widespread discoloration, crumbling clumps or a greasy tray wall are signs that a deeper refresh is due.
Match maintenance to material
Clumping formats such as Air Lock Hybrid, bentonite ball, tofu and tofu-cassava mixed litter allow targeted waste removal. Crystal litter follows a different absorption and maintenance pattern, so owners should follow its pack directions and stir or replace only as instructed. Deodorizer granules can support odor control, but adding more should never be used to extend visibly soiled litter.
Deep-clean without leaving residue
Empty the tray, wash with warm water and a suitable detergent, rinse well and let it dry completely before refilling. Follow the tray manufacturer's instructions and avoid mixing cleaning chemicals. Replace a heavily scratched plastic tray when odor remains embedded after cleaning. Importers should publish a material-specific care guide and avoid unsupported fixed-duration claims.
