Know when a full clean is due
Daily scooping removes most waste, but residue can collect around corners, seams and scratches. Plan a full clean when odor remains after scooping, clumps stick to the base or the litter reaches the replacement point in its instructions. Move the cat to a clean spare box during the process so access is never interrupted.
Empty and wash
Bag the used litter according to local rules; do not flush mineral litter. Remove loose particles, then wash the tray with warm water and a suitable detergent. Scrub corners with a dedicated brush, rinse completely and avoid abrasive tools that deepen scratches. Never mix cleaning chemicals.
Disinfect only when appropriate
If disinfection is needed, choose a product approved for the surface and follow its dilution, contact-time, rinse and drying directions. Keep pets away until the box is ready. Strong residual scent can discourage use. A tray that stays smelly after correct cleaning may have deeply scratched plastic and be due for replacement.
Reset the box
Dry the tray completely, add fresh Clean Step litter to the recommended depth and return it to the same accessible location. Deodorizer granules can be mixed through the litter according to their label. The current supplied list does not establish a dedicated Clean Step litter-box deep cleaner, so promote the litter and deodorizer while offering an OEM/ODM inquiry for a future cleaning SKU.
